17 kwietnia bieżącego roku Swisscom – największy w Szwajcarii operator telekomunikacyjny uruchomił sieć 5G w 54 miastach, w tym m.in. w Zurychu, Bernie, Genewie, Bazylei, Lozannie i Lucernie. Jest to pierwsza na dużą skalę komercyjna sieć 5G w Europie. Partnerem infrastrukturalnym telekomu jest szwedzki koncern Ericsson (Spectrum Sharing). Do końca tego roku operator planuje objąć zasięgiem sieci nowej generacji praktycznie cały kraj, dostarczając usługę dla 90% Szwajcarów.

On 17 April this year Swisscom – the largest telecommunications operator in Switzerland – launched 5G network in 54 cities, including Zurich, Bern, Geneva, Basel, Lausanne and Lucerne. It is the first large-scale commercial 5G network in Europe. The infrastructure partner of the telecom is the Swedish company Ericsson (Spectrum Sharing). By the end of this year, the operator plans to cover the coverage of next-generation networks virtually the whole country, providing a service for 90% of Switzerland.

Swisscom customers equipped with smartphones and 5G routers within the range of the service, thanks to which they have access to higher speed and quality of data transmission, rich info entertainment, games, or virtual reality. The launch of the 5G network in Switzerland is an important step in building the 4.0 Things and Industry Internet ecosystem.

Klienci Swisscomu wyposażeni w smartfony i routery 5G znajdujący się w zasięgu usługi, dzięki niej mają dostęp do wyższych prędkości i jakości przesyłu danych, bogatej inforozrywki, gier, czy wirtualnej rzeczywistości. Uruchomienie sieci 5G w Szwajcarii jest ważnym krokiem w budowaniu ekosystemu Internetu Rzeczy i Przemysłu 4.0.
