In recent days, the new NASK data center – DC Praga Pn. has been officially opened. The facility will provide data storage and processing services for government administration and private companies and will maintain the National Educational Network.

NASK officially announces the activity of DC Prague Pn.

On September 25th, NASK officially opened its new data center – DC Praga Pn. in Warsaw’s Praga district. The new data center is a response to the exponential increase in the number of data and the growing demand from the public and private sectors for their secure storage and management. The opening ceremony was attended by Marek Zagórski, Minister of Digitization, members of the Management Board and Supervisory Board of NASK SA and the management of NASK National Research Institute, National Educational Network (OSE) and industry chambers. NASK newly opened data center in Warsaw will provide data storage and processing services for government administration and private companies, and will maintain the National Educational Network OSE.

New NASK data center security

DC Praga Pn. was built as part of the NASK SA Investment Division, without the participation of the general contractor. The facility was commercially available already in the middle of this year. Since then, with almost 1,000 m2 of colocation space available in 4 independent chambers, more than 40% has been sold. The company forecasts that by the end of Q4 2019, the occupancy rate will increase to 50%. DC Praga Pn. is a facility built in accordance with the concept of providing customers with multidimensional data security: technological, power supply, physical, fire, environmental, ecological conditions and business continuity.

DC compliant with Rated 3+ standard (3 independent fiber optic connections with separate entrances to the building, telecommunication neutrality of the building, full redundancy of key devices).

Power supply security 1.6 MW of IT power, 2 independent power connections from 2 independent suppliers, redundant power maintenance system and the first in Poland power maintenance installation based on Li-Ion batteries.
Fire safety Early detection and fire alarm system and extinguishing system based on neutral neutral gas IG-100, nozzles equipped with acoustic silencers.
Safety of environmental conditions Redundant precision air-conditioning system, characterized by high energy efficiency thanks to Freecooling technology and the use of hot and cold corridors.
Ecological safety Active use of heat generated by devices installed in DC for heating the NASK SA office building and the process of waste equipment utilization and waste segregation.

The heart of #OSE

DC Praga Pn. is also the central node of the National Educational Network OSE, which provides schools with access to fast, free and safe Internet. This means that all connections and systems that affect the entire OSE network meet in DC Praga Pn. The infrastructure located in the data center at the next stages will also provide other elements of the project, such as applications, services, e-books. The first stage of the OSE project is to connect all schools in Poland to a fast, safe and free Internet, which according to the plan should take place by the end of 2020. More than 3,000 schools are already using the network connected within the OSE project, and more than 3,000 other schools have all their installations installed and will also be using this service in the nearest future. The next stage is the introduction of services, teaching aids and applications which, thanks to the infrastructure located in DC Praga Pn., will meet the highest security standards.
